Rise on Boards+ | Cohort 2

Since childhood, I have been instilled with a deep sense of justice by my parents, who emphasized the importance of standing up for what is right, even in the face of adversity. Over time, I’ve come to understand how institutions shape our lives, and how we can shape those institutions in return. Now a second-year law student at McGill University, pursuing both a B.C.L. and J.D., I bring a multidisciplinary perspective grounded in law, finance, and community work. My academic journey began with a finance degree from the University of Ottawa, where I developed an interest in international trade and its impact on human rights, health, and mobility.

I’ve conducted research on spyware, SLAPPs, and racial discrimination, and my award-winning undergraduate thesis examined how Canadian immigrants navigate speech boundaries. Through leadership roles in the Black Law Students Association and Emerging Leaders, I’ve worked to create inclusive spaces for underrepresented voices. I’ve also contributed to advocacy efforts through roles with the National Council of Canadian Muslims and the Center for Research-Action on Race Relations. I would bring to a boardroom not only a commitment to justice and intersectionality but also a strong grounding in governance, strategy, and the lived realities of diverse communities.
