Rise on Boards | Cohort 9
I am a Biology student at Western University with a strong passion for leadership, equity, and community engagement. My academic journey began with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, where I developed critical thinking skills, adaptability, and a global perspective—qualities that have shaped my approach to leadership.
Beyond academics, I have taken on diverse roles that have strengthened my ability to lead and support others. As a Residence Don, I managed high-pressure situations, mediated conflicts, and fostered an inclusive environment for students. My experience as a Starbucks barista has refined my teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments. Additionally, my work as a tutor and volunteer at non-profits has deepened my commitment to mentorship, advocacy, and community building.
As a hijabi Muslim woman, I am passionate about justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI). Through my leadership experiences, I have learned how to navigate challenges, advocate for underrepresented voices, and create spaces where all individuals feel valued. I look forward to bringing these skills and perspectives to this leadership program.
