I am proudly from Golden, BC, at the confluence of the Kicking Horse and Columbia Rivers. Small communities afford you the opportunity to learn the genuine value of connection, of trusting your neighbours, of definitely not sweating the small stuff, of realizing that small actions are meaningful, and of bringing what you learn back to your community when that opportunity arises.
My academic background is rooted in social and public policy in Canada and internationally, with my Master’s work focusing on Canadian Forced Migration and Refugee policy within the broader Global Refugee Regime and an invaluable internship with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). Currently, I work in policy with the First Nations Summit (FNS), a political organization that seeks to align BC laws with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and supports BC First Nations in treaty negotiations with BC and Canada.
In addition to my current role, I’ve held policy and evaluation roles supporting First Nations governments and national public sector clients.
