Jasmine Virk is a third-year honours nursing student at the University of Alberta, with a strong commitment to community leadership and social justice. As a racialized, first-generation immigrant, Jasmine is passionate about advocating for marginalized communities, particularly women and racialized individuals. Her academic and professional journey spans healthcare, governance, and policy, with a focus on addressing systemic barriers. Jasmine has held various leadership roles, including as a project director, vice president of recruitment, and co-chair of leadership initiatives.
Her work has ranged from healthcare settings to community organizations, where she has actively represented her peers, led initiatives, and advocated for change. In addition to her academic and leadership endeavours, Jasmine is a writer and peer editor, focusing on issues such as gender-based violence, healthcare representation, and social justice. Her research and writing contribute to ongoing discussions about equity and inclusion in healthcare and beyond. Jasmine’s mission is to leverage her nursing education and leadership experiences to drive social change, advocate for gender and racial equity, and empower future leaders in both healthcare and governance!
