EQUITY IN ACTION: MODULE 3

Turning reflection into strategy

In this final module, you’ll bring together everything you’ve explored so far—and translate it into an actionable plan for your board. This is about identifying the most important steps your organization can take to move toward more equitable, inclusive, and future-ready governance.

This activity is designed to help you name your priorities, set realistic timelines, and build accountability into your board leadership.

Building Your Board’s Inclusive Governance Plan

MODULE 3.1

When boards include a wide range of voices—especially those who have been historically excluded—it helps organizations make decisions that reflect the communities they serve, while also giving them the capacity to respond to the needs of the moment.

Use the prompts below to identify key areas of growth and create a plan that supports the inclusion of gender-marginalized youth on your board. You may want to do this individually or with a small working group.

Let’s get started!

Pathways Forward

MODULE 3.2

Ready to Take Action

Now that you’ve created your action plan, your board is ready to welcome a young gender-marginalized leader into governance.

Whether you’re building new practices or strengthening your commitment to equity, this is where change begins. If you’re looking to connect with a young leader who’s ready to serve, check out our Rise on Boards and Rise on Boards+ programs—and meet our incredible cohorts of trained, equity-focused Young Directors.

Ready to welcome a Young Director to your board?
Through Fora’s Rise on Boards program, we connect organizations with young leaders who are trained in board governance, financials, and fundraising — and who are ready to bring their lived experiences, expertise, and vision for change to your decision-making table.

If you’re interested in having your organization join Rise on Boards, complete our board application form by clicking the I’m Ready to Welcome a Young Director button below. Let’s ensure every board reflects the diversity, talent, and leadership our communities deserve.
