Heather’s Fight Became Our Misson.

The Heather Cutler Foundation is not just a foundation but a promise that no one should have to fight for basic answers. Heather Cutler; a nurse of 35 years and a loving mother and wife, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was told that nothing more can be done. The foundation was founded because the Cutlers knew that they were not the only family who felt helpless, anger and blindsides by a diagnosis because pancreatic cancer care depended on where you lived, who’s in your corner and how are one is willing to fight. The goal was to ensure that no family faces what the Cutler family did. The Heather Cutler Foundation funds pancreatic cancer research, provides education and resources to empower patients, and support families with financial assistance. The foundation advocates for systemic change to improve care for everyone raising over $15,000 for pancreatic cancer research and support.

The foundation’s work is powered by people — families who share their stories, researchers who challenge the status quo, and people across Canada who believe that we are stronger when we fight for one another. The approach is to rewrite the playbook on pancreatic cancer advocacy in Canada, not just in memory of those who has passed, but in honour of those still fighting and those yet to be diagnosed. The Heather Cutler Foundation is built on Heather’s journey from caregiver to patient, revealing the flaws and inequalities in Canada’s healthcare system. Pancreatic cancer doesn’t discriminate, and Canada’s healthcare system shouldn’t either.
