Rida Salahuddin [she/her]
Rise on Boards | Cohort 9
My name is Rida Salahuddin and I am a university student attending McMaster University on my way towards becoming a medical professional. I am extremely passionate about advocacy work on human rights and climate change, but also giving back to the community. I founded and serve as Project Director for four non-profit organizations—Patched Up Youth, Silenced Nations, Grow To Feed, and Muse Programming—where I’ve organized community initiatives like upcycling clothing for refugees and art programming for disabled youth. My roles as a Physiotherapy Assistant at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital and a Research Intern at Gateway Rural Health have given me valuable hands-on experience in healthcare and community outreach.
In addition to my non-profit work, I have participated in humanitarian projects with Islamic Relief and I have given a TED talk on fast fashion. These experiences have helped me develop strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. By participating in the Rise on Boards program, I aim to further refine my governance expertise and strategic decision-making abilities while contributing a pragmatic, community-focused perspective to the boardroom.
