Teerka Baskaran is an undergraduate student at Queen’s University, where she explores the intersections of healthcare, equity, and social systems. She is a Loran Scholar, recognized for her leadership, community involvement, and academic excellence. She currently serves as a Director at Health for Homeless, a youth-led nonprofit addressing healthcare gaps for unhoused populations. Previously, she was a Student Trustee for one of Ontario’s largest school boards, where she worked to bring underrepresented student voices into policy conversations.

Teerka has experience in health tech, public health research, and community outreach. She worked at Ubenwa Health, a startup using AI for infant diagnostics, and contributed to a peer-reviewed study on the public health impacts of abortion access. During the pandemic, she supported vaccine education through a national literacy program that reached underserved communities.

On campus, Teerka is involved in TEDxQueensU, helping build dialogue around future-focused ideas, and the Vogue Charity Fashion Show, a creative student-run initiative that raises funds for local charities. She also volunteers in her community through school-based health workshops and one-on-one tutoring for newcomer youth.

Teerka is passionate about creating inclusive systems and believes in working with others to solve complex problems with curiosity and care.
